John Piper and Stained Glass

Over 100 examples of Piper’s work from around the world are illustrated in rich color and b&w, providing a historical catalogue for an exhibition which could never be staged. In collaboration with Piper’s widow, who gave free access to his studio, the author discusses the artist’s chronological development, his techniques, and the religious imperatives behind much of the work. The volume reproduces Piper’s important text Stained Art or Anti-Art (1968) and provides a full list of his designs in stained glass with notes on their composition, setting, and theme.
