Beyond Being Brave

This story is fiction based on historical facts found in journals of real people traveling on the Oregon Trail in the year 1852. The characters in the story are solely from the author’s imagination and any likeness to real people is purely accidental. My reason for writing this story is for young readers to know that real people endured real difficulties and overcame them to settle this wonderful country. I also want to acknowledge the drawing of the buffalo and give credit to my friend Jonathon Helsley, age eight, for it. —Lenora D’Arcy
