This selection of letters was chosen and foot noted with philological vigor by Jorge Eduardo Arellano, an expert in Dario. It also includes a passage written by Pablo Antonio Cuadra (912-2002). This book portrays the (real) Dario through his most intimate writings, spread over five (chronological) sections of the author’s life, ranging from 1882, when he was 15 years old, up until 1916, the year in which he died at the age of 49. Ruben Dario, the great creator of modern Spanish literature, is depicted in these letters with all his virtues and shortcomings.
