Celebrate Literacy: The Joy of Reading and Writing

This teacher resource is linked to topics in the book, “Celebrate Literacy!” (You do not need to have read the book or be using it to use this resource.) It is a collection of proven ideas to help students discover the fun involved in reading. It is based on the premise that students do best what they enjoy, so the more teachers can communicate the joy of reading and writing the better. These multi-sensory activities come from a variety of sources, each of which is listed along with a brief description, the objectives, procedures and notes. Suggested activities experience charts, locked closet book collection, scrambled poetry, puppets, drama and role-playing, and growing a bookstalk!
