Day of the Fire Storm

On the royal dais, the queen’s kohl-darkened eyes glitter and her rouged lips glisten as she flirts with the men around her. She is wickedly beautiful and very sure of her charms. As she rises to her feet, a hush falls over the hall. Jezebel’s eyes flash dangerously as she lifts a bejeweled, white arm high above her head.

“This is what I think of Elijah, the Tishbite barbarian, and his god,” she says coldly, and her fingers snap once. The sound carries clearly in the deathly-still room. Uneasy silence reigns until Jezebel herself breaks it with a cruel, mocking laugh–a laugh devoid of humor.
