Designing Effective Service Learning Experiences

Service-learning is an educational approach that requires students to work in community service programs while simultaneously participating in classroom learning activities in which they deconstruct and discuss their service-learning experience. This book is a “how-to” manual for educators interested in designing service-learning activities for their students. The authors are pioneers in the field of service-learning and their previous book, “Where’s the Learning in Service-Learning,” presented research data that firmly connected the learning to the service in this growing educational movement.
