Designs for Alienation: Exploring Diverse Realities

Social scientists from places as far flung as Brazil, Finland, and Siberia examine how a variety of social institutions concretely frame and foster alienation, legitimating the creation of Others, who are disempowered, manipulated, and marginalized. They consider patterns of culture, family and gender, education and knowledge, and alienation in systems.
