Freedom at Last: The Life of an Ex-con

Freedom at The Life of an Ex-Con is a tale about the author’s life journey, growing up as a poor resident of Harlem. It’s about pain and suffering, drug dealing, treachery and violence, and tragedy with a successful outcome. It’s about Brown’s long twenty-four year period of incarceration in New York State’s most brutal and violent prisons. Not only did Brown survive that ordeal, but he was able to educate and redefine himself, against all odds. Freedom at Last is also about sincere redemption. This book discusses how Brown’s life was transformed from a common street hustler to that of a person who is now educated and is the Director at a Social Service organization. He also does volunteer work in his community as a counselor with inner-city youths, helping them to live their lives more productively. Some of the primary goals of Brown’s endeavor of writing this book is to be able to share his story with troubled youths who are embarking on a life of crime, to illustrate the severity of the consequences of their actions, and to make them believe that if they pursue more positive options available to them, they can definitely achieve many successes in their lives. Brown’s message to these troubled youths is “a life of crime does not pay.” Brown hopes this book will deter others from making the mistakes he has made in his past. As for those who have already and are presently incarcerated, his book will hopefully be an inspiration to them. He wants them to believe that upon their release, they too can turn their lives around and become responsible men and women in their communities. It’s never too late!
