General William Maxwell was appointed a brigadier general by the Continental Congress in 1776 and ordered by General Washington to take command of the New Jersey Brigade during the American Revolutionary War until he resigned his commission in July, 1780.

MIchael R. Yesenko was born in Newark. N.J. in 1929 and graduated St. Ann’s Elementary School, Madison Ave. Jr. High School and Weequahic High School. He served in the U.S. Army in 1946-8 and taught Social Studies in Union High School from 1953 – 1975 adn served as Supervisor of Social Studies grages 6 – 12 from 1975 to 1993.
