This is a saga of one familys life on a plantation, and is based on a true story. Slavery is part of American history. It is recorded in the history books. This story, then,is about the way slavery affected the authors family. From the beginning, in Virginia, to its conclusion, in Madison County, Mississippi, it tells vividly of the trials and tribulations of life as slaves for this family.There were good times, hard times, joys, and sorrows, much like life today.
