Islam and Modernity Through the Writings of Islamic Modernist Fazlur Rahman

Fazlur Rahman (d. 1988) was a Muslim theologian and philosopher who integrated the spiritual and intellectual heritages of the Islamic and Western worlds. In this study, Berry (missiology and world religions, Gardner-Webb University) examines Rahman’s life and thought and looks at religious traditionalism in the context of modernity, discussing problems associated with modernity and revealing how Rahman’s thought has contributed to dilemmas of modernity.
