Introduction from the Author
When I say that I’m a student at Ithaca College, I get one of three the first is a blank stare, the second response is a brief word of congratulations, and the third is the inevitable question as to whether I go to the school where the movie Road Trip was filmed. Unfortunately for the questioners, it was Ithaca University in the movie, not Ithaca College. It is said, however, that there is some tie between the producers of the film and IC. Some people are disappointed to learn that I don’t go to the school where Tom Green was depicted as one of the college tour guides, but others breathe a sigh of relief and tell me that I’m lucky to go to a school where things that happened on Road Trip don’t actually occur, or at least, not that often. Now that all possible confusion has been dealt with, it’s time to move onto the real IC.
As you approach campus, it’s hard not to be engulfed in the beauty of Ithaca, New York. The waterfalls, gorges, and ravines, plus Lake Cayuga, the largest of New York’s Finger Lakes, give the area a natural and clean feel. Sitting beside Cornell University, and housing one of the best college towns in the country, Ithaca, NY, is lucky to have an atmosphere that simply can’t be matched.
In the middle of all the surrounding beauty of Ithaca is IC, a private institution that is growing in leaps and bounds, earning more respect with every passing day. With IC’s comprehensive curriculum, students obtain a liberal arts education while receiving professional preparation. IC prides itself on its student-centered approach that emphasizes close interaction between students and faculty. Through education within IC’s five different schools, as well as countless opportunities to get involved outside the classroom, students at IC take what they learn out into the real world. Each year, the College sees an increase in applicants, and the word about IC’s overall education is spreading.
Choosing where to spend four of the most important years of my life was one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make. Looking back, I’m positive that I made the right choice. Whether this book steers you away from IC or reinforces your plans to enroll, I hope that reading the following facts and opinions will let you get a clear picture of IC and will help you in your college-choosing decision.
