Kachinas-Paone

Austin, 1976. 94p., ill., papercover, 8-1/2 x 11. A book of photographs in color and black and white of Kachina dolls and of the images they inspired one artist to create. Essentially a catalog of the author’s collection. Kachina dolls are small cottonwood root effigies carved and painted to represent spirits that are believed to exist in the Hopi Indian world. Peter Paone paints large, distorted and highly personal images of this Indian art form.
