Koko and Friends: Born to Play – Destined to Win!

“Koko and Friends” is a series of books written for elementary school children. Too often parents are unaware of the frequent battles their children face everyday at school as their peers attempt to erode their confidence and self-esteem through insults and ridicule. Parents may even be oblivious to how cruel their children can be to other children. Children are told to ignore unkind comments other say about them. Many times they are told the old Sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me. Even as adults, however, we know that words do hurt. The purpose of this book, Born to Play – Destined to Win!, is to let children know that in spite of what others say about them, they are special and can accomplish great things. Through Koko and his cousins’ adventures, children can learn to have compassion for their peers in word and in deed.
