Literary Masters, Volume 5: Gabriel Garcia Marquez

The three components to Gale’s Study Guides to Great Literature include Literary Masters, Literary Masterpieces, and Literary Topic& These guides are appropriate for high school readers and, perhaps, somewhat older students who need somewhere to start. The Literary Masters volumes follow a set format: a chronology of events in the subject’s life is followed by discussion of early life and literary efforts, the various eras of the subject’s life and the social and cultural context, the works themselves and their significance, the subject’s writings on writing, how the subject’s work is viewed and studied, and resources for study (study questions, glossary, bibliography). Each volume contains the same brief introduction by Alvin Kernan (humanities, Andrew W. Mellon Foundation); the credentials of the author are not cited.
