Mountains and Volcanoes

This book tells where mountains and volcanoes are found and how they are formed. Andes volcanoes are highlighted, along with the condor, the largest bird on Earth. We learn about the tin and copper mines and the native peoples, like the Quechua Indians of Peru. The Rocky Mountains are included. The Himalayas, the world’s highest mountains, are presented with photos of giant rhododendrons and information about the heavy rains on the southern-most slopes. Of course, the snow leopard is here, but the surprise is the rose-breasted finch found at over 18,000 feet. Australia’s Great Dividing Range includes mountains with unusual shapes. Europe is represented by the Alps.
