In psychoanalytic terms … Deutsch shows our vision in sync or swinging with the alternating alterations between identification and projection. These are the parallel universals of Deutsch’s art world that turn around the axis to grind the lenses now of not-seeing-but-being the bit parts we borrow or take in from others, now of seeing through to the screen of what’s coming at us, not as evidence of our senses, but rather in our own defense, one that rests not on what we see but on what we forget.
