Production Control and Information Systems for Component-Manufacturing Shops

Production control and information system design is a fast developing field, in theory and well as in practice. Many production organizations have tried to improve their control performance and their information systems, either by implementing standard software packages for production control or by developing customized production control software themselves. All too often, however, these projects do not fully achieve their purpose. This book reports on research on some aspects of production control and information system design that may explain some of the failures often encountered.
