Rainy

He had just seen someone who would be so nice to come home to. When their pickup truck breaks down while driving home from the Christmas Festival in Garone, Francios Chaval, widower, gentleman farmer, computer expert and his eleven-year-old son, Maurie, are forced to walk the rest of the way home. Searching their way through a rain drenched forest they rescue an injured fawn. By feeding the fawn three times a day and by sleeping with the fawn to keep it warm, Maurie nurses the fawn back to health. The fawn named Rainy bonds to Maurie like wallpaper to a wall. When Maurie becomes lost in a mountain forest, because of this bonding, Rainy keeps Maurie from freezing and helps him find his way out of the forest. At the Christmas festival Francios meets Mish D’Orsay. When Maurie sees Mish he feels that Mish would be so nice to come home to. He feels that he would love to call her “mom.” Maurie puts all of his energy into what he calls “His Mother of all Wishes.” Wishing that Francios and Mish would fall in love and marry so that he, Maurie, would have a mother.
