When Lord Brackenshaw loses everything at dice, the Earl of Raven offers him a home at Ravensthorpe Castle – but he has reckoned without the lord’s beautiful daughter, Diana, and the mysterious masked stranger who appears in the district. His own bad reputation, together with Lord Brackenshaw’s refusal to tell Diana the truth of their situation, forces Lord Raven to leave the castle. However, events make him hasten back and he immediately becomes embroiled in the strange happenings there.
