Created nearly a half century ago when books suffered less cultural competition, The National Book Awards now serve as a centerpiece for recognizing remarkable literature. Marking the approach of their fiftieth anniversary, The National Book Foundation, in an effort to publicize the voices of reason and inspiration in great writing, has assembled this list of winning authors and titles over the years. All proceeds from the sale of this booklet will be contributed to The National Book Foundation’s educational outreach programs.
