Sister Judith was just out of college when she met Father David. She went to hear him lecture, and, like the audience he held in rapt fascination, she was overwhelmed by his charismatic power. Perhaps this was a man who could fill the spiritual emptiness within her.

Perhaps her emptiness was more than spiritual. For at Father David’s retreat in Maine, she was tempted by his carnal desire. And despite her anguished shame and guilt, she was becoming more and more helpless to resist her own desires.

As her love for God became ever more confused with her love for David, they were drawn into a maelstrom of self-destruction, their passion condemned to a consummation of tragic violence.
