Theory and Methods in Dance-Movement Therapy: A Manual for Therapists, Students, and Educators

Dance-Movement Therapy is a relatively young profession in the field of mental health. Characteristically, this period of development entails the ability to think reflectively and to combine and synthesize experience. It is also a time to evolve an identity – a sense of self. In other words it is time now to gather all previous perceptions, techniques, concepts, etc. in Dance Therapy and to synthesize them into one congruent functioning whole under one frame of reference. By providing a theoretical base upon which both existing and new observational data and techniques can be placed, Dance-Movement Therapy can become an integrated totality.
