After much family struggle, (and a titillating indiscretion) the story ends happily. …The scenes are set in Southeast Asia, from Singapore to Bangkok and on the island of Java. The author takes his readers to many splendid shrines and temples. He devotes some pages to an explanation of the many Hindu gods, to the gentle Buddha, and to the beauty of the Muslim prayer call. The final scenes and denouement occur during the London hurricane of 1987. That terrible storm is the background for a most dramatic ending.
